MONCALVO AND NIZZA MONFERRATO CELEBRATE THE FAT OX (Bue Grasso)

Two historic fairs not to miss, one in the North and the other one in the South of the province. The fat ox with its superior quality meat is an excellence of the Piedmont breed. For centuries Moncalvo and Nizza Monferrato have been famous for their big cattle markets and cattle is a flagship product still today.

MONCALVO
December 3rd - 8th “SUA MAESTA’ IL BUE GRASSO”
December 6th, “FIERA REGIONALE DI SUA MAESTA’ IL BUE GRASSO”
The historic fair starts at 8 am with the traditional distribution of the bowl of broth and chickpeas. From 11am, distribution of the Mixed Boiled Meats at the stand of the Pro Loco Association and at local restaurants. On Sunday 3rd, guided tours to the art treasures of Moncalvo. Among the several collateral events: on December 8th “Giornata dell’Olio”, a day dedicated to the regional oil productions, the typical produce market and the Rassegna Gastronomica del Bue Grasso (Fat Ox Food Festival) at local restaurants from December 2nd to 10th.

NIZZA MONFERRATO
December 3rd
12th FIERA DEL BUE GRASSO E DEL MANZO DI RAZZA PIEMONTESE
Already in the seventeenth century, Nizza stood out for its big cattle market. Piazza Garibaldi, the central square, is the setting of the fair hosting the heads of cattle that will be evaluated and awarded. At Foro Boario from 10am Gran Bollito non Stop (Buffet with  Mixed Boiled Meat).
