With Douja d’Or, Festival delle Sagre, Palio and Arti e Mercanti Asti celebrates some of Italy’s most important appointments with tradition, history, food and wine and folklore. As always, the town will give you a unique and touching experience.
Douja d’Or from September 6th to 15th at Palazzo dell’Enofila. More than 700 Italy’s wines to be tasted and purchased, dinners by the professional associations and the Michelin stars, Piatti d’Autore, evenings with tasting sessions organized by Onav, “Asti fa Goal” market of food specialties and debut of the wine-flavoured ice cream. Festival delle Sagre on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th: in the big Piazza Campo del Palio a real village is built and 44 Pro Loco Associations present their traditional dishes accompanied by the local wines. On Sunday morning the big parade in the old town takes place. Guests of honor the pro Loco Association of Mezzenile (Torino) and of Valmontone (Roma). On September 15th - like every year Asti celebrates its medieval splendour with the Palio of Asti: the race takes place in Piazza Alfieri and is preceded by a parade with more than 1200 people in historical costumes. The celebrations start on Thursday evening, September 12th with the Palio degli Sbandieratori (flag throwers competition) in Piazza San Secondo and on Friday and Saturday with the traditional market, the general trials and the ritual banquets in the evening.
On September 21st and 22nd Asti hosts ARTI E MERCANTI and re-enacts moments of medieval life, tradition, costumes and its great mercantile tradition . Info: http://www.at-cna.it
